Do you have curly or wavy hair?
Curly and wavy hair is a hair type that includes everything from almost straight wavy hair to the absolute curliest hair. Common to curly and wavy hair is that the shape of the hair strand makes the hair sensitive to wear and tear and that the natural oil from the scalp does not spread as easily from the scalp out into the lengths. This means that curly and wavy hair is extra sensitive to becoming dry and worn. It is important to properly care for curly and wavy hair with products developed for the specific hair type.
Curly hair is more sensitive to wear and tear, but there is also a misconception about which hair is worn. If you have curly or wavy hair that you don't take care of properly, there is a big risk that your hair is frizzy. Frizzy hair can be obtained by those who have curly or wavy hair without the hair necessarily being particularly worn. A worn hair may need to be trimmed so that the worn hair is cut off and new healthy hair grows out. If, on the other hand, the hair is only frizzy, it may be unnecessary to cut and you should instead invest in hair products that moisturize and define your hair.

Choose mild products
It is important to use a mild shampoo that nourishes and moisturizes curly hair and to avoid wear and tear that leads to more frizz. For curly hair, we recommend the Ocean Waves shampoo bar that cares, moisturizes and defines your curls.
Ocean Waves shampoo bar contains carefully selected organic oils that care and moisturize as well as algae extract from seaweed that strengthens the hair's structure.
Also important is what this shampoo bar does not contain. It contains no harmful chemicals or silicones that clog your hair. By choosing a natural alternative to liquid shampoo that allows your hair's natural structure to be restored, your hair's natural curl pattern can emerge and your curls will become more defined.
If you want to style your curls, we recommend reading the packaging carefully and avoiding silicones as these clog the hair strands. If you still want to use these products, it is no problem to wash them off with Ocean Waves. Unlike, for example, the no-poo method, Ocean Wave's shampoo bar manages to wash the hair completely clean even if you use a lot of styling products, including those that contain silicones.
In order to eventually get hair that is less frizzy and where the curls are naturally defined, we still recommend avoiding styling products and heat on the hair as often as possible. By treating your hair gently even between washes, you will reach your end result faster with dreamy beautiful hair straight out of the shower.

What type of curls do you have?
To find the best hair routine for your hair, it can be helpful to know what type of curly or wavy hair you have. Hair is usually divided into 4 hair types and 3 subgroups per hair type, which you can read more about below.

Hair type 1: Straight
This hair type includes hair that is completely straight naturally and it is divided into three subgroups.
1a is straight and often shiny hair that is difficult to curl.
1b has a little more texture but is still straight.
1c is also straight but has an easier time getting tousled and is easier to curl and style with heat.
Hair type 2: Wavy
This hair type is wavy and is divided into three subgroups.
2a is with a weak natural wave pattern that is easily weighed down by styling so that the curls disappear.
2b has a clearer wave pattern with waves that hold better.
2c is wavy hair with more frizz and bigger, rounder waves. This hair type is on the verge of curly.
Hair type 3: Curly
This hair type has more defined curls that can be "S" shaped or like a corkscrew. Curly hair is prone to frizz and is sensitive to dryness. Often you need to add moisture.
This hair type is curly and is divided into three subgroups.
3a has clear "S" waves.
3b has denser and clearer curls that are between "S" shape and corkscrews.
3c is very curly and the curls have the shape of corkscrews.
Hair type 4: Curly
This hair type is curly and has a much more compact and dense shape than the previous curl types.
4a is curly with clear tight curls.
4b is more compact and even more clearly curls, often with a cylinder shape.
4c are very tight curls that do not straighten when they get wet.
